The Irish Mining and Quarrying Society (IMQS), in conjunction with the Health and Safety Authority, the Irish Concrete Federation and the Health and Safety Executive NI, successfully delivered the biennial event in Blessington on Wednesday, 26th September.
Over 250 delegates, exhibitors and speakers attended the conference which was based on health and safety, and automation and technology in the extractive industries. The conference was opened by John Francis, IMQS President, and heard from key industry speakers including IMQS Corporate Members Brian Carroll (Sandvik), Brendan Morris (Lisheen Technical and Mining Services, LTMS) and Cormac McCarthy (Roadstone). Representing the Northern Ireland extractives sector was the Quarry Products Association Northern Ireland and the Institute of Quarrying; they were joined by a number of companies and delegates from Northern Ireland.
Thirty-six companies exhibited at the event – including a number of IMQS Members – promoting a range of products and services spanning plant and machinery, surveying equipment and professional consultancy services.
