Earlier this month, December 3rd and 4th, the European Mining Convention (EMC) was hosted in Dublin to which the IMQS was a Supporting Partner.
The EMC welcomed delegates from across the world for the 2-day conference and exhibition. IMQS Corporate Members QME, Forcit and Geological Survey Ireland exhibited at the convention while Gunnar Nystrom (General Manager, Boliden Tara), Brian Carroll (Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology) and Kate Richardson (CDE Global) provided presentations of their respective companies and projects.

Nicola Nixon, Vice President IMQS, delivered the keynote address outlining the role of the Society and an overview of Ireland’s mining sector and its history and heritage; Sean Finlay, Past President IMQS, provided the welcoming remarks and outlined the strength of Irish companies in the global mining supply chain. Brendan Morris, Past President, and Andrew Gaynor, Executive Secretary IMQS, moderated panel discussions during the conference relating to public policy, legislation and sustainability.

The ambition of the EMC is to move between different European capitals over the coming years.
